                Microsoft release CTP3 for CRM5

                &lt;P&gt;Selected testers are now able to access the latest development milestone of the next generation of Microsoft customer relationship management solutions. According to statistics released by the Redmond company, there are already over 400 select partners that have been tapped for the third Community Technology Preview program, of the next generation of Dynamics CRM. Codename “CRM5,” the future iteration of Dynamics CRM will be offered to customers in the second half of 2010, although the company did not reveal a specific GA deadline. &lt;/P&gt;
&lt;P&gt;“With this next version, Microsoft is continuing to drive new levels of user productivity and collaboration, giving customers deep core CRM capabilities, low total cost of ownership, and fast and easy deployment options for their CRM applications,” Brad Wilson, general manager of Microsoft Dynamics CRM, said.&lt;/P&gt;
&lt;P&gt;The promise from the Redmond company is that the Dynamics CRM Codename “CRM5” CTP3 program will be expanded in the coming months to include additional participants on top of the 400 partners already engaged in testing. With the latest CTP Build, Microsoft is focusing mainly on software developers that have an already established partner base of Microsoft Dynamics CRM. Essentially, the software giant is offering third-parties that have been leveraging Microsoft CRM as a platform the chance to start early development and testing, designed to make sure that their solutions will integrate seamlessly with the new release. &lt;/P&gt;
&lt;P&gt;“We see Microsoft Dynamics CRM driving innovation and focus in the customer relationship management (CRM) marketplace. It continues to raise the bar on ease of use, and delivers real and measurable value to our customers,” Aziz Virani, executive vice president of the Avanade Technology Solutions Group, noted. “This next generation of the product provides us with more opportunities to create innovative solutions for our customers.”&lt;/P&gt;
&lt;P&gt;After it will become generally available in the second half of this year, customers will be able to take advantage of Dynamics CRM Codename “CRM5” as not only an online service, but also as on-premise software. Microsoft plans to allow third-parties to also deliver partner-hosted offerings. &lt;/P&gt;
&lt;P&gt;“The CTP software is available as on-premises software, as well as through pre-release versions of Microsoft Dynamics CRM Online running in datacenters in North America; Europe, the Middle East and Africa (EMEA); and Asia Pacific (APAC).                 Microsoft Corp. today released its global SMB IT and Hosted IT Index 2010,&lt;SUP&gt;&lt;FONT size=2&gt;1&lt;/FONT&gt;&lt;/SUP&gt; which investigates how small and midsize businesses (SMBs) across multiple segments fared during the recession and how they use technology. The research finds that businesses that value IT as an enabler for better business productivity and effectiveness and those that use hosted services performed better fiscally than those that do not. 
&lt;P class=pp_BodyText&gt;&lt;STRONG&gt;IT Critical to Revenue Growth&lt;/STRONG&gt;&lt;/P&gt;
&lt;P class=pp_BodyText&gt;Despite the global recession, more SMBs surveyed in 2010 reported an increase in revenue than in 2008. Those that reported growth view IT as critical to their business success.&lt;/P&gt;

&lt;P class=pp_BodyText&gt;Of the SMBs that view IT as critical, 60 percent saw revenues grow over the past 12 months. In contrast, among SMBs that stated IT is not important, less than 29 percent saw revenue increase.&lt;SUP&gt;&lt;FONT size=2&gt;3&lt;/FONT&gt;&lt;/SUP&gt;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;/TD&gt;&lt;/TR&gt;&lt;/TBODY&gt;&lt;/TABLE&gt;
&lt;P class=pp_BodyText&gt;&lt;STRONG&gt;SMBs Moving Toward Cloud Computing&lt;/STRONG&gt;&lt;/P&gt;
&lt;P class=pp_BodyText&gt;The 2010 index indicates SMBs are beginning to see the benefits of cloud computing; more than 40 percent of the respondents that use hosted or cloud technology reported revenue rises of 30 percent or more compared with 90 percent of respondents not using hosted technology that saw decreases in revenue. The advantages of hosted or cloud technology are viewed as reduced cost and IT management and maintenance, as well as increased business value, productivity and competitiveness.&lt;/P&gt;
&lt;P class=pp_BodyText&gt;Awareness of hosted services is increasing with 65 percent of SMBs using hosted software to some extent, while 73 percent of the remainder have considered it, compared with only 44 percent in the 2008 Index.&lt;/P&gt;
&lt;P class=pp_BodyText&gt;SMBs are beginning to understand the value of “renting” IT as a service — 36 percent said a pay-as-you-go model would be attractive.&lt;/P&gt;
&lt;P class=pp_BodyText&gt;Cloud computing has become a watchword for the IT industry as software and services such as e-mail, Web sites and e-commerce are increasingly available in an on-premises, off-premises or hybrid model depending on business need.&lt;/P&gt;
&lt;P class=pp_BodyText&gt;“Over the last five years, we have seen nearly 40 percent growth in usage of hosted services,” said Michael Korbacher, director of EMEA Software plus Services in the Communications Sector at Microsoft. “Using pay-as-you-go cloud technologies, small and midsize businesses can now afford and easily have access to enterprise-class, secure services across any platform.”&lt;/P&gt;
